76, 78 & 79 — Not All the Same

Each variant has different suspension geometry, spring rates, and load characteristics. We spec every build individually — we won't fit a 76 wagon kit to a 79 dual cab tray and call it done.

76 SeriesWagon

Coil front, leaf rear. Typically used as a touring or family 4WD. GVM upgrades are particularly useful when fully loaded for extended trips.

78 SeriesTroop Carrier

Leaf spring all round. The van body adds significant base weight. GVM upgrades are almost essential for a fully kitted touring setup.

79 SeriesSingle & Dual Cab

Tray, canopy, drawers, fridge, water tanks, and tools can push a 79 over GVM before anyone gets in. One of our most common upgrades.

Yes. We do GVM upgrades for all three. The process and kit differ between models, so give us a call with your specific variant and we'll talk through what's involved.
How much weight can a GVM upgrade add?
Depends on your current GVM, your vehicle's condition, and the engineering assessment. Common upgrades add several hundred kilograms. We'll give you the specifics when you book a quote.
I already have aftermarket suspension — can you still do a GVM upgrade?
Possibly. We'll need to assess what's fitted and whether it's compatible with a certified Dobinsons upgrade. Book an inspection and we'll let you know.
Does a GVM upgrade change my towing capacity?
No — GVM and towing capacity are separate ratings. A GVM upgrade increases your legal loaded vehicle weight.
How long does the installation take?
Most upgrades are completed in a day. Combining with new suspension may take a little longer — we'll give you a timeframe when you book.
