What Mechanics want you to know for your booking
Look, we love our job. But there are a few things that make our day (and yours) run way smoother. So here’s a little insider info: the stuff we wish every customer knew before dropping their car off.
1. Bring Your Lock Nut Key
If your car’s got lock nuts on the wheels, we need the key to get ‘em off. No key = no tyre rotation or brake work. We’ve seen it more times than we can count.
2. Tell Us What’s Going On (In Plain English)
You don’t need to know the technical jargon. Just describe the noise, the smell, the weird thing it does when you reverse uphill. The more detail, the better. “It just feels off” doesn’t help us as much as “there’s a clunk when I turn right”.
3. Have Your Service Book Handy
If you’ve got a logbook, pop it on the front seat for us. Saves us from digging through your glovebox. Plus, we can keep your service history up to date properly.
4. Don’t Bring It in on Empty
We don’t need a full tank, but running on fumes makes test drives tricky — and trust us, we don’t want to push your car to the servo.
5. Please Don’t Overfill the Boot
If we’re doing suspension or anything under the back, a packed boot can be a bit of a mission. A few bags are fine — a whole camping set-up might need a rethink.
6. Let Us Know if You’re Waiting for It
If you need the car back by a certain time, let us know when you book. We’ll do our best, but it’s hard to shuffle things last minute — especially if you rock up wanting to wait when that wasn’t part of the plan.
7. We Book Out Fast - Especially Before Holidays
We love a road trip as much as you do. But if you’re heading off for Christmas or Easter, book ahead. We don’t want to rush your job, and you don’t want last-minute stress.
8. We’re Not Magicians… But We’re Pretty Close
Some faults take time to diagnose. Some need a test drive. Some play hide and seek and don’t show up when we want them to. Trust us — if we say we need more time, it’s because we want it done right.
9. Be Honest With Us
If you tried to fix it yourself, or something weird happened after your mate had a go, just tell us. No judgement — we just want all the info so we can do the job properly.
10. Ask Questions – We Actually Like It
Don’t sit on a worry. If you’re not sure about something, ask. We’d rather you leave feeling confident than confused.
We’re not just here to fix cars — we’re here to make the whole experience easy and stress-free. A little heads-up before your booking goes a long way.
Got a question about your next service? Give us a bell. We’re here to help. 👊
