Why we don’t fit customer supplied parts.
A question we get asked a lot is: do we fit customer supplied parts?
And the answer is no.
Here are three reasons why we don’t.
1) Quality control
When we supply the parts, we know exactly where they’ve come from and what quality they are.
Parts can look the same online, but quality can vary a lot — and that can affect how long the repair lasts, how the car drives, and whether you end up back here sooner than you should.
Supplying the parts ourselves means we can choose the right quality for the job and stand behind it.
2) Making sure the part is actually correct
This one catches people out all the time.
Even if you’ve typed in your car model correctly, things like VIN, rego, build date, and mid-year changes can mean there are different versions of the “same” part.
If the part you bring in is wrong (or almost right), it can:
not fit at all
fit but cause issues later
waste your time and leave your car stuck while a replacement is organised
When we order parts, we confirm them properly using your vehicle details so we can get it right the first time.
3) Warranty
This is the big one.
To ensure warranty, we need to supply the parts. If we didn’t supply it, we can’t confidently back the work in the same way — because if something fails, it becomes really messy.
When we supply the parts and there’s an issue, it’s simple:
we diagnose it
we deal with the supplier
we handle the warranty process
we get you back on the road as smoothly as possible
If the part was customer supplied, you’re often stuck dealing with the seller, returns, postage, and the “who’s responsible?” conversation — and that’s exactly what we want to help you avoid.
What if you’ve already bought the part?
Just let us know before your appointment. We can talk it through and advise the best next step.
